In 2011, Bestseller buys Rømerhus and decides to renovate the building in 2014. Rømerhus was built in 1895 and through the years it has accommodated various clothing stores, speciality shops and liberal professions . In all those years, it has had a stylish touch. Thus, it was necessary to make an extensive restoration where the whole building is turned upside down both inside and outside. Therefore, Bytelab was temporarily rehoused at Lille Torv in Aarhus C while the reconstruction took place.
In 2017, Bytelab moves back into a completely renovated Rømerhus with beautiful office spaces, intelligent solutions, and a unique roof terrace.
eBay had developed some systems for insurance companies but they wanted to reduce their range of product. Thus, they contact Bytelab to hear if we are interested in making a solution for insurance companies with integration to Bilinfo (Bilinfo is the leading platform in Denmark for displaying car ads). Until now, Bytelab has been a limited liability partnership but in 2008 it is decided to constitute a board of directors why Bytelab changes from being an LLP to a joint-stock company. This happens because the management has a desire of bringing more qualified competencies into the company to strengthen Bytelab’s market position. Initially, this means that the business strategy is being focused on the automotive industry.
In 2011, the intake of new customers happens really quickly . This is among others due to the high interest for Bytelab Car Commerce. The repercussions of the financial crisis in 2008 begins reducing which increasing the Danes’ willingness to buy cars. Leasing is also beginning to gain ground among the private consumers which creates more opportunities for the Danish car dealers to grow their businesses.
To further strengthen and streamline Bytelab, the board of directors decided that Bytelab should be a pure software business with solely focus on developing IT systems for the automotive industry. Along with this decision, some difficult choices followed where we had to say goodbye to several of our loyal customers, who we subsequently helped find new business partners.
